I have a friend who's been running a latina cuisine restaurant on Grand street in Williamsburg for the past seven years.

Ten years ago, that neighborhood was scary. Even yellow cabs wouldn't go there. Today Williamsburg is the hottest place in Brooklyn. Gentrification is taking place everyday. My friend's uncle and his family were forced out of their apt on the very same street; the new owner doubled the rent!

As far as the restaurant is concerned, my friend could not have been happier: business has been excellent for the past year. I believe he loves the changes taking place everyday in Williamsburg.

Found your blog through Google as I have been considering moving to Mynt but my boyfriend is really anti the area (not that either of us have even been there yet). Am keen to keep up with your feedback to see if the area is more improved than all the nay-sayer folks who have given me feedback to date. Personally, I am truly madly deeply in love with the pics I have seen of the Mynt and would like to wish the neighbourhood safe if I can? It sounds like the residents to date are out-of-towners like ourselves, I wonder if the locals know the area better than us?? Keep up the blog -I love it!
